Today we were back at NUH for a check up, and A weighed in at 5.95kg. He's put on 1 kg in exactly 3 weeks!! No wonder he's already starting to strain my back in the Bjorn, and seems to be getting heavier each time I carry him. A and I returned from what I call our 3D/2N all inclusive staycation - at NUH. Obviously all is going pretty well and it was a good experience, otherwise I wouldn't be so lighthearted about it. I'm feeling sleepy after lunch, and falling asleep while sitting on the sofa, while A is lying asleep on my tummy and lap. He likes sleeping on his tummy but only on me, when i try it on the bed he just complains and wriggles. Hopefully he'll like it eventually and sleep soundly ( Read more... )

Today baby A is 8 weeks old. We went for a check up and he's now 4.9kg and 57.5cm, up from 3.6kg 3 weeks ago, and 3kg (slightly below his birth weight) when he left the hospital.

He's doing pretty well, although he fusses quite a bit getting himself to sleep. When he's out he sleeps all the time and won't take much milk, so it's actually easy on us ( Read more... )

As it happens occasionally, A has been rather fussy today. Not sleeping much and always wanting to be carried, and demanding milk every hour.

On other days he's content to sleep on his own and will have his milk at regular 2 or 3 hourly intervals, on days like these he nurses almost every hour, which is basically a vicious cycle, and meaning that I ( Read more... )

While sleepless or rather, interrupted sleep nights come with the territory, it's something that I'm sure every parent does not look forward to. Today, A turns 6. Weeks, that is. The last 2 weeks we've been getting to know his movements and his ins and outs. Milk and poo, that is. In the first 1.5 weeks he was home, he was still about 100g lower than his birthweight. Because we go to a teaching institution for A's follow-ups, there are often lots of medical students lurking around, learning and observing. This particular doctor has always been rather amused by A's name (he once asked us if our other kid's name was Scout), and at the our last visit with him, started off the session by questioning his students, " ( Read more... )

Last week we celebrated A's one month birthday. It was certainly a full month for us, meaning we had been busier, with A having spent half that time in the hospital. We had a tiny affair at home with just our immediate family members, which we realised isn't all that tiny when it adds up to almost 17 people, including the midgets of 5 grandsons ( Read more... )
